Brunch with kids, Italian cuisine

February 24, 2018

Friday brunch as we know it is a blend of cuisines. But if you are a fan of the Italian cuisine, definitely you should try the new Family Grazing Brunch at Carluccio’s at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel. I was very glad when I got the invitation to come with my family, mainly for two reasons: I love breakfast at Carluccio’s (it is in the Entertainer, by the way, so enjoy buy one get one free) so their food is tried and tested and really yummy and, the second reason, my kids can live on pasta and pizza. They would be the happiest kids if I feed them these two dishes every day.

So, here we are, on a Friday, arriving at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel for our brunch. There are two sitting options: inside and outside. We were sit inside to keep an eye on our kids who were playing in the big play area organized just for them. And this is what I like at this stage in their life: the restaurant to have an entertaining area where kids can spend the time playing and having fun while we enjoy the food and drinks. Surprised that I mention this first? Believe me, it’s like the first thing I’m looking when we are going to a brunch: to have a suitable “kids zone” so everybody can enjoy the day. And the girls really enjoyed it as they colored, played games, had face painting, made bubbles and had a lot of bending balloons. The kids hosts are amazing there and they had a fabulous time. They even have their own serving area with food for kids, in small sizes, but a bit too many sweets for them on display.

Once the kids were settled and we showed them where our table is if they need us, we went for the food ourselves. The antipasti was delicious, really Italian style, and I enjoyed the mozzarella  with tomatoes and the mixed olives in oil. My husband had even two helpings of the antipasti with the focaccia bread. I couldn’t miss my all times favorite, seafood, so had a nice portion of marinated shrimps. They were so good that I was tempted to order a portion “take away” but we were going somewhere else afterwards. Pizza is freshly made in the oven and of course, there are live cooking pasta stations. Outside there is a bbq grill and you can have chicken, beef, salmon or lamb. The beef stake I had was exactly how I like it, medium rare and melting in my mouth. Did I mention that I ate mozzarella and tomatoes like three times during the brunch? But I still had room for dessert. Not much just for a tiramisu and I admired the other cakes from afar. Eating control is a problem when everything on display is something you love.

The Family Grazing Brunch at Carluccio’s Jumeirah Creekside Hotel is every Friday and it costs Aed 195 per person, inclusive of soft drinks, or Aed 345 per person, inclusive of house hops, grapes, selective beverages and sparkling. Kids under 12 years eat for free, one kid per paying adult allowed. The price for kids brunch is Aed 65. And the best news is….it is in the Entertainer!!!! So, enjoy a relaxing brunch in two, paying just for one!

One more thing I like at Carluccio's: most of the times, when I leave, I buy some pasta and olive oil for home. Check their selections on display, I'm sure you won't leave empty handed.
